Thank you for looking up my Walking Home for Christmas page, supporting the Walking with the Wounded charity.
To celebrate, commemorate and maybe commiserate the end of my 20 years of service in the Army I wanted to do something special to mark the occasion and to raise some money for a brilliant charity that supports military veterans. Walking with the Wounded empowers veterans by reigniting their sense of purpose. Sense of purpose is so key, especially in the military community, and there can be a massive loss of purpose and identity after military service ends.
So, while I ponder my own sense of purpose for my next chapter in life, I am going to be walking Offa's Dyke path for the Walking Home for Christmas appeal. The path runs from Chepstow to Prestatyn, broadly following the Welsh/English border and King Offa's 8th century dyke. I will be starting the 177-mile trail on 9 December with my dog and will hopefully be home in time for Christmas!
I want to raise as much money as possible, and I know times are challenging, so I'm grateful for anything you can donate, however small. Great acts are made up of small deeds. Thank you.
