DETAILS FOR SUNDAY

Hi Everyone

Please allow me to start by saying "WOW" - what an amazing job you are all doing, thank you all so much, words cannot describe how grateful we are for your efforts and we look forward to meeting you all on Sunday.

So, to that end here are the details and some pointers to make the day as enjoyable as possible for everyone.

You are welcome to turn up at Phoenix House Recovery Centre (DL9 3AW) from 1000hrs on Sunday morning - if you haven't been before then there will be chance to have quick look round and grab a brew. If you are driving then there is parking available at the centre but you will need PHOTOGRAPHIC ID to enter

Please note that dogs, although more than welcome on the walk, are not allowed in the centre (and the same goes for muddy boots) :-)

There will be a course route and safety brief at 1030hrs and although not compulsory it is advisable to attend

The walk will start at 1100hrs and I have booked nice weather - slightly cloudy with a moderate breeze!! I have recce'd the course quite a few times and at a nice stroll it has taken me about (the long course) 3.5 hrs and so please plan accordingly for food (packed lunch) and drink. Although there will be a refreshments stop at Round Howe car park with warm drinks, water, cordial and biccies (approx 5 mile point).

If you are doing the 3 or 5 mile options can you please let me know via email - [email protected]g.uk - so that we can plan transport to return you to the centre.

At the moment there are 75 people registered, which is amazing, but if you are planning on bringing people with you can you please let me know via email - [email protected] - so that we know how many people to cater for with drinks and more importantly .... cake. and on that subject we would definitely not mind if you wanted to bake/buy a cake and bring it to share :-)

Please ensure that you have appropriate equipment for the walk - correct and appropriate footwear/socks, waterproof clothing (just in case), food and drink. We will be providing a detailed route card and map and the route will be well marked, but if you want to bring your compass for a walk then please do. I would also advise bringing a head torch if you have one (just in case).

If you would like a copy of the route card or a GPX file of the route then please email me at [email protected]

On return to the centre there will be cake :-) and hot drinks and a chance to have a guided tour of the centre should you so wish. Please remember that dogs are not allowed in the centre and muddy boots must be taken off at the door (we do have lovely underfloor heating.

All that remains now is for me to thank you once again, it really has surpassed any expectations - you are all amazing

We will see you on Sunday but in the meantime if you have any questions then please feel free to email me.

Cheers

Mark
